YOUNGSTERS with Dunfermline Track and Field Club made the podium after competing at a national event.

Last month, following on from a 'virtual' competition in May, under-12 athletes from the club headed for Aberdeen to compete in the annual, outdoor Scottish Athletics 'Superteams' meet, with one of their teams claiming a third place overall.

A total of 22 boys' teams and 26 girls' teams from around the country were taking part and Dunfermline Track and Field's boys' A team – Charlie Hunter, Sean Asamoah, Gregor Fraser and Bradley Moffat – secured the bronze-medal position behind Pitreavie AAC and Giffnock North AC.

In the 75 metres sprint, they excelled, with Sean, Bradley and Charlie clocking times of 11.56, 11.58 and 11.84 seconds respectively, while they also finished third in the 4x100m relay in a time of 1:00.89.

Other events saw Sean and Charlie leap to an impressive 4.01 metres and 3.76m in the long jump; Bradley throw an impressive 10.57m in the javelin; and Gregor produce solid javelin and long jump performances to keep the points ticking over and secure third place.

The boys' B team, consisting of Lochlan Walker, Jaden MacKay, Innes Barnett and Alex Bailey, enjoyed some fine individual performances as they finished in 15th place.

In the javelin, Alex and Lochlan threw 11.55m and 10.96m, with Jaden and Inness consistent in earning points across the events, as a young and inexperienced side enjoyed a good afternoon.

There was a respectable seventh place for the girls' A team of Lottie Thomas, Poppy Warner, Ana Stobie and Sophie Jenkinson, with Lottie finishing as their top points scorer.

A stunning 11.57 in the 75m led the way while the relay, in which the team finished fifth, was also a high points scorer. Further contributions in particular were made by Ana in the 75m (12.57); Poppy in the javelin (6.68m); and Sophie in the 75m (12.3).

The B team were not too far behind their clubmates, finishing 12th, and also enjoyed some excellent individual performances.

These included Hollie Lynas, Macy Wainwright and Briony Argo running 12.24, 12.41 and 12.9 seconds in the 75m; Lucy Gibb throwing 7.14m in the javelin; and a 1:05.00 run in the 4x100m to secure a 10th-place finish.
