THUNDERSTORMS are set to hit West Fife today (Tuesday).

A yellow warning has been put in place by the Met Office from midday and this is expected to last until midnight with thundery showers possibly leading to flooding and transport disruption.

Householders are being warned that flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services while spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The yellow warning says some communities might become cut off if roads flood and power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

On Wednesday and Thursday, there are also yellow weather warnings in place for rain.

The Met Office says this expected persistent rainfall will be heavy at times and may lead to localised flooding and transport disruption.
