A DUNFERMLINE motorist who was speeding at more than 95mph on the A92 as she was pursued by police has been sentenced.

Jasmine McIlroy, 24, of Petrel Way, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

The court heard she was pulling away from a police car which was pursuing her at 95mph.

The Specsavers optical assistant claimed that her speeding was caused by her becoming “annoyed” at another motorist undertaking her.

McIlroy previously admitted that on December 29 on the A92 between Crossgates and Cowdenbeath she drove a car dangerously at grossly excessive speeds.

Depute fiscal Mat Piskorz told the court a Ford Fiesta being driven by McIlroy came to the attention of police on the dual carriageway at 12.50pm.

There had been snow and icy conditions around this time, added the depute.

The officers saw the speed she was travelling at and attempted to follow her.

The police vehicle was hitting 95mph but McIlroy’s car was pulling further away.

They eventually stopped her and she claimed she had become “annoyed” at an undertaking manoeuvre by another driver at a slip road.

Sheriff Charles Macnair imposed a fine of £520 and banned McIlroy from driving for 12 months and until she passes the extended test.
