THE band chosen to play the first full-capacity gig in over a year at PJ Molloys has been announced and Scottish legends Arab Strap are also coming to town.

Two mouthwatering gigs have been added to Dunfermline's gig calendar with two revelations in the space of the past two days.

Shambolics will return to the PJ's stage on Saturday, August 28 for the first full capacity indoor live show at the Canmore Street venue since March last year.

The following weekend, Friday, September 3, will then see Arab Strap play at the Glen Pavilion as they embark on a UK tour with the Barrowlands in Glasgow the only other Scottish date for the Falkirk duo made-up of Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton.

Arab Strap split in 2006 and reunited ten years later and they most recently released their seventh studio album As Days Get Dark, back in March.

Shambolics - familiar faces on the Dunfermline and Fife music scene - are also in good form with Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams their latest single and dates up and down Scotland and across the border in England already announced for this summer and later in the year.

Tickets for both shows are expected to sell fast with tickets for Arab Strap online via TicketWeb from 9am on Wednesday, with the Shambolics pre-sale briefs out at the same time via the band's social media and the PJ Molloys Facebook page; they will then go on general sale on Friday.

Darren Forbes, from Shambolics, has promised a "mad one" on Saturday, August 28.

He said: "The last 18 months have been terrible for everyone in this industry with small venues taking the brunt of it.

"We cut our teeth in PJ's and to be able to come back to our hometown and to the venue where we played our first ever gig and do something positive for the place was a no-brainer.

"It's gonna be a mad one."

Jonny Watt, promoter at PJ Molloys, also told the Press: "We are delighted to be kicking off our programme of events with these incredible artists: Arab Strap at the Glen Pavilion and Shambolics at PJ Molloys.

"We're very much looking forward to inviting full capacity shows back to Dunfermline at long last.

"These shows are sure to have a celebratory atmosphere, and I think we all deserve a proper party after the last 18 months.

"These shows are likely to sell out quickly so we would urge everyone to book tickets early to avoid disappointment."
