AN ICONIC pub in Dunfermline is set to welcome back customers in the near future.

The Old Inn has been shut for a number of months but a teaser post on Facebook has revealed that the establishment on Kirkgate will be re-opening.

The Press understands that no date has currently been set for its return but work inside the building is ongoing.

It has been confirmed to the Press that the pub will be run by the owners of Somewhere Else pub on Guildhall Street.

Somewhere Else had a short-lived revival as gastropub The Drouthy Fox but had lain empty since January last year when it closed due to “operational issues”.

The Press reported previously that it was bought by an investment company – Elgin Investments – headed by local businessman William Braisby, and it is understood that they will now be running the Old Inn.

The Old Inn is widely known as the pub “where it all started” for Dunfermline Athletic Football Club and has been adorned with Pars memorabilia, old photographs and programmes for years.
