Lucky West Fifers were treated to their very own water show at the weekend thanks to a friendly dolphin showing off its moves!

Photographer Pud Gibson caught a striped mammal frolicking at the Iron Mill Bay in Charlestown on Sunday morning for a couple of hours.

By the afternoon Jason Canning and his partner Carla Robertson, who were in the water at Braefoot Bay, between Dalgety Bay and Aberdour, were also entertained by the same breed of dolphin, although we can’t confirm if it was the same one.

Pud told the Press: “It’s one of the biggest I’ve seen on the Forth.

"It was jumping about and seemed to be having a feed. It was really lovely to see.

"I’ve seen porpoises before but not a dolphin. It was there for a good couple of hours.”

Jason and Carla were equally delighted to make a friend after they had been kayaking to Inchcolm Island.

Jason said: “We were just coming back for a picnic and I thought it was a big fish jumping at first.

“We got closer and the next thing we know there is a dolphin jumping about! It really seemed like it was trying to splash us and wanted to play!"

He continued: "It went on for about 45 minutes. It was a real special moment and it caught us by surprise.”
