ATHLETES with Dunfermline Track and Field Club continue to be at their best after registering scores of top performances recently.

They were on track and in the field last month for a club championship events day, which saw a variety of age groups competing in a specified number of events that had to include a run, a jump and a throw, and 70 new PBs were set amongst the 32 competing youngsters.

Seven of those – Sophie Jenkinson, Gregor Fraser, Hollie Lynas, Macy Wainwright, Shayna Asamoah, David Cuthbert and Callum Lee – all registered a new best in each of the disciplines they took part in.

Athletes in the under-11 age group took part in three events and, for the boys, Jaden Mackay just edged out Lochlan Walker by 13 points, helped by an excellent 600 metre run of two minutes and 17 seconds, while Sean Asamoah finished third.

In the girls' section, Lottie Thomas came out on top, scoring 511 points, followed by Sophie Jenkinson and Lily Pritchard, with the top two producing a close match.

Lottie edged out her team-mate in both the 60m sprint – where they each achieved PBs of 9.1 and 9.4 respectively – and the long jump, while Sophie took the spoils in the shot putt by just 2cm.

In the under-13s, Charlie Hunter took first place for the boys with an excellent spread of results in his disciplines, which earned him 556 points.

A time of 15.4 in his hurdles event, and a distance of 1.25m in the high jump, was enough to hold off Bradley Moffat, whose best performance saw him PB in the hurdles, with a time of 15.8.

An excellent 3.16m long jump helped Gregor Fraser reach the podium with a third-place finish.

Rachel Barnett was the victor in the girls' section with a 552 points haul, which was helped greatly with an impressive 13.2 PB in the hurdles, whilst Milly Mackenzie – despite suffering a knee injury in her first hurdles race – posted a PB, won the long jump in 3.57m, and placed second overall.

A new 800m PB of 2:51, one of four achieved, helped Macy Wainwright to third spot.

There was a high standard of action in both the boys and girls under-15 competitions, with Callum Newton winning the former thanks to a blistering array of performances that brought him a colossal total of 1,384 points.

The pick of his performances arrived in the 80m hurdles, which he ran in 11.3, whilst Oliver Morrison – with an impressive 2:15 in the 800m – and Brook Ferguson finished second and third respectively.

Shayna Asamoah finished top in the girls' section, collecting four PBs, including in the 100m (12.5), long jump (4.74m), and shot putt (8.66m).

Kirstin Penman finished second, with a 7.42m PB in the shot putt her highlight, while Sophie Thomas and Amy Jenkinson tied for third place.

In the under-17 section, the male and female athletes amalgamated, and Darcie Black just edged out Adom Akouko by 1,268 points to 1,132, with both athletes running PBs in the 100m, of 12.7 and 12.3 respectively.

Hayley Penman, with three PBs and one season's best across her four events, finished third, while Brodie Ferguson was the only under-20 competitor in the field, collecting a new shot putt best of 10.08m.
