AN ICONIC Dunfermline pub will welcome back customers for the first time in months next week.

The Old Inn has confirmed that patrons can enjoy pints and good times again at the Kirkgate pub from Wednesday, August 25.

A post on Facebook today (Tuesday) revealed the exciting news: "It’s with great pleasure, we can now announce that the opening date of The Old Inn will be Wednesday, August 25.

"For all you concerned toon citizens, you will see that the famous Old Inn plaque is back up and looking fabulous!

"Look out for future posts with more details on opening times, etc."

The Press recently reported that the pub will be run by the owners of Somewhere Else pub on Guildhall Street.

Somewhere Else had a short-lived revival as gastropub The Drouthy Fox but had lain empty since January last year when it closed due to “operational issues”.

The Press previously told you that it was bought by an investment company – Elgin Investments – headed by local businessman William Braisby and it is understood that they will now be running the Old Inn.

The Old Inn is widely known as the pub “where it all started” for Dunfermline Athletic Football Club and has been adorned with Pars memorabilia, old photographs and programmes for years.
