IF YOU see a sausage on the loose in West Fife next month, no your eyes aren't deceiving you!

It's Jodi McCann, aka 'Sausage', who is running the 'virtual' London Marathon on October 3 around Dunfermline and the surrounding areas.

The 33-year-old, from Carnock, has promised to run the full 26.2 miles in a sausage outfit if she can get her fundraising up to £6,000.

All funds are going to Mental Health UK and a project called Bloom, set up to support wellbeing for 14-18-year-olds.

Jodi explained: "During COVID last year, me and some friends started going down to Silver Sands Beach at sunrise.

"We would have a dip in the Forth and a sausage for a bite to eat!

"It became a bit of a thing and there was other people joining and posting!

"People call me sausage now and because the fundraising is for mental health it tied in as we were just trying to keep ourselves going during lockdown."

Jodi signed herself up for the London Marathon as part of a series of fundraising events she has been doing over the past couple of years.

She was chosen as one of 30 people across her company in the UK to take on a Sahara Desert trek in 2019 but it has been pushed back now to 2022.

"It's been quite a journey and a long one!" Jodi said.

"But, hopefully, it won't be long now.

"I aim to finish the marathon at Aberdour with a sausage party to celebrate!

"Going to the beach really helped our mental health – going in the cold water is good for you and to see a few faces.

"Something to do early in the morning was invigorating and then we would take turns bringing sausages for breakfast!"
