WONDER WOMAN and Wolverine spent 10 hours on the Forth Road Bridge to raise vital funds for the Edinburgh Children's Hospital charity.

The superheroes – aka Kingseat mum-of-four Carol-Ann Fraser and Dunfermline driving instructor John Jardine – walked, jogged and ran over the bridge for 10 hours solid, covering a massive 31.9 miles.

Several fellow superheroes dropped in on them during the course of their challenge which helped spur the pair on.

Carol-Ann was delighted to have completed the gruelling effort, which she organised to help with fundraising for a skydive she is set to do for the charity next month.

"It was really smooth – there were a lot of lovely people on the bridge just talking and asking what we were doing, giving us cash donations asking for the justgiving link and putting donations online," she said.

"A lot of people came and joined us which was really nice. It broke up the day and and gave us different conversation and more motivation. There were points we were really feeling it and having different people supporting you really helped as well.

"I have managed to get over the target. I have still got money to put in so I think it might be close to £450 and £500 by the time the Skydive comes in October which is amazing."

Despite finishing the challenges with no blisters – unlike John, who she said had sore feet after finishing the challenge – Carol-Ann said she expected the lengthy walk to be tougher than her next challenge.

"The skydive will be easy compared to this," added Carol-Ann. "I just have to get my head in the game and I don't really have a choice. Someone pushes you from behind but I am really looking forward to that.

"As much as I did, it is these kids who are the real heroes. I am just a person in a costume doing a walk."
