JAMIE LESSELS dashed to victory as a quartet of PH Racing Club members enjoyed top-six finishes at the recent Milnathort Dash.

The event, organised by Kinross Road Runners, saw a maximum entry of 200 compete in the annual five-mile race over a hilly course, and Lessels led the field home.

His time of 29 minutes and 49 seconds saw him place ahead of the hosts' David Scott, who was followed home in third place by PH's Mark Ryan, who covered the distance in 30:33 to continue his fine form since joining the club.

Aaron Bennet finished fifth in 30:56 but took the 'King of the Hill' prize – just ahead of Ryan – for leading the race at the top of the first hill, while Mark Webster continued his prolific racing with a run of 32:53 to finish sixth.

In East Lothian, at the Scottish Half/10K competition, Ed Norton marked his first race in the V70 age category with victory in the 10K in 43:40, while Julie Menzies, in a PB of 1:29.37, was the second V45 runner in the ladies' half marathon.

That event saw Kristin Lownie (1:24.08) place fourth overall, and Clare Graham, who had also competed at the Great North Run, finish in 1:54.47.

Graeme Doig was first home for PH in the men's race, finishing 18th and first V45 in a PB of 1:15.49, while Wright Beveridge (1:23.06) and Mark McLean (1:23.41, PB) were fourth and fifth in the V50 category.

In addition, there was PH representation at three races in Glencoe, with Mike McConnell placing 16th in the 52km Ben Nevis Ultra, which featured 4,000 metres of climbing, in a time of 9:17.57.

Andy Jannetta was 35th in the Ring of Steall, a 29km race with 2,500m of climbing, while Billy Stewart took on the Mamores VK – a vertical kilometre within a 5km race – and clocked 1:36:43.
