THE date is set for the opening of Fife's first Black Rooster Peri Peri restaurant in Dunfermline.

The franchise has taken over the former Greggs premises at Hospital Hill which has been kitted out and they are ready to welcome customers on Tuesday (October 19).

The eatery, which prides itself on offering “The Home of Peri Peri flavour", has gained popularity over in the west of Scotland after launching in Glasgow around four years ago.

Owner Kevin Bell is now looking to expand to other regions of Scotland as well as England.

Black Rooster promises “something for everyone” from signature chicken wings and strips to a range of burgers, burritos and quesadillas as well as kids' meals and lighter options like salads and rice bowls.

Affy Husan will be running the Dunfermline franchise. He told the Press: "The unit has been empty for some time so it's good to see some new business there.

"Black Rooster have already 15 restaurants at the moment and they want to take it up to 21.

"It was the location that ticked all the right boxes to bring the chain to Dunfermline.

"I did look at other places such as Stirling but Hospital Hill seems ideal.

"You have the high school across the road, car-parking, it's on a busy road and next to two big franchises: Tim Hortons and Dominos."

Affy has recruited a dozen staff for the new outlet who have just all undergone training.

He added: "The team have done well with their training and I've picked a huge bunch of staff.

"Some of the recruits were struggling to find a job so they're thankful they've been given a chance and to get back to work."

It will be open from noon until 10pm and there will be about 20 seats inside and the takeaway.”
