A KELTY man shouting at his dog to stop barking ended up in a row with a neighbour.

Dwain Morgan thought comments aimed at the dog were meant for him.

Later, he went back to the house when drunk and made death threats as he banged on the door.

Morgan, 30, now of Loch Leven Terrace, Kelty, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on September 3 last year, at Keltyhill Crescent, Kelty, he shouted, swore, made threats, struck doors and windows repeatedly and threw garden furniture around.

Depute fiscal Duncan MacKenzie said: “At 8pm, the witness was in his front garden in Keltyhill Crescent when the accused walked past, causing the man’s dog to start barking.

“The man shouted at the dog saying, ‘Shut up or I’ll kick your teeth in’. The accused thought these comments were aimed at him and an argument started.”

At 11pm that night, Morgan had gone back to the neighbour’s home, banging on the door and making threats.

These included threats to kill the man and his family members.

When police arrived, they found Morgan in a “highly-intoxicated” state.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “The comments made by his neighbour were misunderstood.

“There was an argument and then later, when he was intoxicated on alcohol and valium, he went back. He has no recollection of that. The next thing he remembers is coming around in Perth prison.”

Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a community payback order with 160 hours of unpaid work.
