A POLICE officer was assaulted by a Rosyth woman who struck him with a metal pole.

The policeman was also kicked, bitten on the hand and grabbed by the genitals during the disturbance.

Her partner was also charged following the incident.

Suzanne Armit and Andrew Irvine, both 28, of Holborn Place, Rosyth, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on July 25 last year at Holborn Place she was in possession of an offensive weapon, a metal pole.

Armit assaulted a police officer by striking him with the metal pole, squeezed his genitals, kicked him on the body and bit him on his hand, all to his injury.

She assaulted another police officer by kicking her on the face to her injury.

Irvine admitted that he obstructed officers and attempted to prevent them putting Armit in the back of a police vehicle.

Depute fiscal Duncan MacKenzie said police officers had been called to the area to deal with a disturbance and saw Armit brandishing the pole which she then swung.

Sheriff Francis Gill sentenced Armit to a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work.

Irvine was put on a community payback order with 80 hours of unpaid work.
