THE second Fife derby of the season is fast approaching and you could be there thanks to Press Sport.

Papa John’s has teamed up with the Press to give one lucky Pars fan the chance to win a pair of home tickets to the match with Raith Rovers on Tuesday October 26.

Peter Grant's side will go in search of a first home victory of the season against their Kirkcaldy neighbours in the second meeting between the teams this season, following a 1-1 draw at Stark's Park last month.

Currently in its second year as Official Delivery and Takeaway Partner of the cinch SPFL, the pizza delivery chain is giving Scottish football fans a chance to grab a slice of the action and see their team play for free, by giving away hundreds of tickets throughout the 21/22 season.

After a season like no other, fans have finally returned to stadiums across Scotland to cheer on their beloved club. While the roar of the terraces off the pitch has highlighted the importance of supporters to football stadiums, action on the pitch continues to be fiercely competitive across all four divisions.

Scottish football remains a fantastic day out and the perfect way to bring communities together. Papa John’s is proud to be giving fans the chance to catch their team live as we move into the middle part of the season.

To be in with a chance of winning a pair of home tickets, simply answer the following question: Who scored Dunfermline's goal in their 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers last month?

To enter, simply send your answer, plus your name, email address and contact number, along with your guest, to competitions@wcommunications.co.uk, by Sunday October 24.

Entrants must be 18 or over, and one lucky winner from the correct entries will be selected at random.

Meanwhile, Grant is confident that having players return from the treatment table can help his side find that elusive first league win of the season.

A stirring end to Saturday’s home match with Kilmarnock saw Aaron Comrie smash home a well-deserved, stoppage time equaliser to earn Dunfermline a point, but they are still yet to claim a victory.

They’ll attempt to do so at the 10th time of asking at Firhill tomorrow against Partick Thistle, who they defeated in Glasgow in the Premier Sports Cup, but lost to in the league at East End, before Tuesday’s home derby with Raith Rovers.

Grant was able to give Rhys Breen his long-awaited debut from the bench at the weekend, but lost Vytas Gašpuitis to injury, which he said would be monitored in the build-up to the weekend.

He revealed that Graham Dorrans, who has been absent since last month’s 1-1 draw at Stark’s Park, could be back in training by next week, whilst he also had a positive update on both Lewis Martin and Iain Wilson.

“Lewis is getting there slowly but surely. He’s progressing, that’s the biggest thing,” he said.

“Each week he’s getting closer, but he’s not been able to join in with us yet.

“Iain’s been training on one day, then having one day off, one day in. Not because of the injury, but just to make it settle down again because we don’t want a reoccurance. And, because of the type of injury it is, it’s just the loading we have to be careful of.

“But the pleasing thing for me is I’m starting to see Iain involved with the players more often than not now, so hopefully he’s not going to be that far away that we can actually be calling on him.

“He’s a talented boy. I know what Iain can do; a fully fit Iain Wilson can be a big asset to us as well and that’s what I’m striving for, to get all these boys fully fit, and then hopefully they can push each other and that gets the performances and victories we’re all so desperate for.

“I think we’ve got a squad of players capable of winning games of football anywhere. I need to have them all fit, I need to have them all playing at their best with and without the ball, and when they do that, they’re more than capable of winning games.

“I think we’ve got more guys available. It’s probably the first week we had a lot of guys on the training pitch together for the first time, and that is difficult.

“Sometimes we’ve had 8-10 players that have maybe been able to train the first two days of the week, and the rest of the guys joining in on a Thursday and Friday.

“Vytas for instance, we didn’t see him until Saturday before kick-off being away for two weeks, and I think it showed early in the game. Then it shows late in the game when he pulls up with the injury because I know what it’s like with international football. Sometimes you’re away for two weeks, you do bits and bobs in training, we’ve been working hard back here, but I just thought he’d done enough to keep his place in the team, and also the fact that we never had other guys available.

“The biggest thing for me on Saturday was leaving three guys out the squad, and that’s not been the case, I’ve been lucky if I’ve been able to leave one out. That means guys are obviously getting fitter and being available, and if we can maintain that, I know I’ve got a squad that’s capable of winning games of football.”

Grant added that he hoped Dan Pybus, who was sick throughout on Saturday, would be fit to train ahead of the game.
