Partick Thistle 0, Dunfermline Athletic 0.

Dunfermline managed to dig in to take a point home after a goalless affair at Firhill.

It certainly wasn’t a classic with few chances on goal from either side and, despite a late flurry from the home side, the Pars held on to claim the draw.

Peter Grant went with an unchanged starting line up after his side snatched a deserved point in their home tie with Kilmarnock last weekend as they searched for their first league victory of the season.

It was always going to be a tough ask against a side who subjected Hamilton Academical to a 6-1 home defeat last Saturday.

The first half brought few chances for either team. Both sides enjoyed periods of possession but neither looked like they were going to break the deadlock.

A long range shot from Tiffoney just before the 20 minutes mark gave Fon Williams a rare chance to touch the ball and he punched the ball out to safety for a throw.

There was more pressure from Thistle minutes later when Foster whipped in a dangerous looking cross but it eluded everyone and the ball was cleared.

Soon after, Tiffoney had a free kick from just outside the box which curled safely over.

Dunfermline did have some chances and Jags keeper Sneddon gave them a helping hand on 36 minutes when he mis-hit a passback. The ball could have gone anywhere but, luckily for him, went out for a throw.

There were more opportunities for Thistle through a volley by Foster which went over and a Holt free kick which went over Fon William’s goal.

Minutes before half time O’Hara had a rare chance for Dunfermline with a close range effort which was scrambled round post for a corner.

Great running by Paul Allan saw him fouled and win a free kick outside the box soon which resulted in Dom Thomas driving a low effort in but this was straight into the hands of the Thistle keeper.

The home side came out on the attack after the break and Fon Williams produced a great save on 47 minutes from a Kevin Holt shot.

Rudden delivered an impressive volley soon after which went over and on 50 minutes, Fon Williams pulled off a spectacular save.

Docherty had curled in a shot which looked destined for the back of the net but Fon Williams rose and somehow tipped the ball over.

Craig Wighton had a go from outside the box after a lovely lay off from Dow which went wide and the striker again found himself through on goal on 66 minutes but had that effort blocked.

Thomas then curled a shot in from just outside the box but saw his effort deflected for a corner.

More good work from Thomas saw him whip a ball across the face of goal with 15 minutes to but none of his teammates could capitalise.

The home side looked like they were going to break Pars hearts with around five minutes to go when mounting pressure resulted in Holt finding himself through on goal.

Connolly blocked his path and the ball was put out for a corner.

With just a minute left on the clock, it was substitute Hastie who found himself with just Fon Williams to beat but somehow the bounce resulted in him failing to pass Fon Williams who claimed the ball to thwart the Rangers loanee.
