A TRIO of Dunfermline Track and Field stars pulled on national vests after they were selected to represent their country.

Shayna Asamoah, Callum Newton and Darcie Black ran for Scotland at the prestigious Schools International Athletics Board event in Derby, and produced some superb performances against high-class athletes from England, Wales and Ireland, as well as Scotland.

Callum, the current under-15 boys national pentathlon champion; Shayna, the under-15 girls 200m national champion; and Darcie, who was second in the 80 metres hurdles at the under-17 girls age group nationally, were part of a wealth of talent that headed south.

In the under-17 boys high jump Callum finished sixth and set a new PB of 1.77m, whilst both Shayna and Darcie collected times just outside of their best in the under-17 girls 100m and 80m hurdles respectively, posting times of 12.56 seconds and 12.15 to finish seventh and sixth.

Shayna represented Scotland in the 4x100m relay team that finished fourth in 49.18s and a Dunfermline Track and Field spokesperson said: "It was a terrific achievement for our athletes not only to be selected but a great honour for the club."
