THERE will be Friday night football for the Pars later this month after the date of their Scottish Cup third round tie was changed.

Athletic were due to travel to Championship rivals Partick Thistle on Saturday November 27, but the game has been put back to the Friday November 26.

The match will not be broadcast live on television, as BBC Scotland have chosen Brechin City's clash with Darvel for live broadcast on November 29, but the game has been moved due to League One Queen's Park's groundsharing agreement with the Jags.

Explaining the move, Thistle stated: "Our upcoming Scottish Cup tie against Dunfermline Athletic has been scheduled for Friday 26th November with a 7:45pm kick off.

"With both ourselves and Queen’s Park being drawn at home in the Third Round of the Scottish Cup we chose to utilise our right to play first on the pitch by choosing the traditional Saturday kick off with Queen’s Park playing Kilmarnock on Sunday 28th November, as has already happened previously this season.

"Due to Kilmarnock’s tie in the SPFL Trust Trophy on Tuesday 30th November being followed by a televised cinch Championship match against Inverness C.T. on Friday 3rd December, this tie was unable to be played on the Sunday.

"Faced with the option of remaining on the Saturday afternoon, and playing after the Queen’s Park v Kilmarnock tie, we have chosen to play first on the pitch that weekend and subsequently have moved the tie to Friday 26th November."

Queen's Park are renting Firhill whilst work continues on their new home at Lesser Hampden, having sold Hampden Park to the Scottish Football Association.

The tie will be the fourth meeting between Partick and Dunfermline this season, with the Pars having triumphed in Glasgow in July in the Premier Sports Cup, as well as drawing 0-0 in the league there last month, which came after a 3-0 home defeat to Ian McCall's team in August.

The last Scottish Cup tie between the sides took place in December 2012, when Andy Barrowman's goal gave the Pars a 1-0 win.

The game will kick off at 7.45pm.
