RATS have reportedly been spotted in Dunfermline due to raw sewage in the town centre.
Resident Muzzo Ak claimed that he had seen rats twice due to the problem at Musical Hall Lane, just opposite Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries.
He said: "Raw sewage has been there for weeks, it stinks and no-one cleans the place."
Scottish Water said the problem had been caused by a blocked drain and urged customers to "only flush pee, paper and poo down the toilet".
It was fixed after the Press got in touch as Scottish Water said that no-one had reported the sewage.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Scottish Water attended a blocked sewer in Music Hall Lane, Dunfermline, yesterday after being contacted by the Dunfermline Press.
"Our engineer cleared a mass of wipes from the sewer and it is now running freely.
"In September, we attended and cleared a blockage in the same location and urge customers to only flush pee, paper and poo down the toilet.
"Where customers notice problems on our network, we recommend that they report them to us so we can resolve the issue quickly.”
