A DRUNK man suffered a fractured cheekbone and two black eyes after being punched in a Dunfermline nightclub.

A court heard the victim’s actions had provoked the assault by 28-year-old Jordan Martin.

He appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted that on October 3, at the Brasshouse, Carnegie Drive, he assaulted a man by striking him to the head to his injury, while acting under provocation.

Depute fiscal Mat Piskorz said Martin had been on a night out in Dunfermline and was in the Brasshouse when the incident occurred at 12.45am.

Martin, of Canon Lynch Court, Dunfermline, was seen becoming agitated after talking to the man.

Martin told others there that the man had touched him several times when they were talking and he had told him to stop.

The man received a fractured cheekbone and two black eyes. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment.

The court was told that the assaulted man was heavily intoxicated and had been sick in the street before going into the Brasshouse.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “The man was extremely drunk, made suggestive remarks and touched him a number of times. Mr Martin told him to stop. He accepts he punched him once.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair fined Martin £540.
