A NEWLY-OPENED attraction is delivering Christmas cheer – as well as funds for charity – to the local community.

Santas Web has opened up a magical festive grotto on the upper floor of the Kingsgate Centre and is offering youngsters and their families a special piece of Christmas magic.

Visitors are transported through a magical forest and kingdom before reaching the grotto where they can meet the man in red himself.

The venture is the brainchild of Dalgety Bay man Mark Bennett who was keen to create something not seen previously in Dunfermline.

"It has never been done at the Kingsgate Centre before. It is a magical walk through and you basically walk through different parts," he explained.

"It is all based around the book Santa's First Christmas and the start is walking into the magical forest."

During their visit, children are entertained by two traditional elf sisters Julnova and Evelyna and, after meeting Santa, families – and passers by – can visit a marketplace which includes stalls from a chocolatier and a local fabricator.

"The emphasis is let's get people back shopping local. We need to get people out in the street again," he added. "The Kingsgate Centre have been marvellous. The public have been great as well."

After losing his mum to cancer last year, Mark said he was keen to help a cancer charity and said the grotto will help provide additional cheer to one local organisation.

"A percentage of every booking is going to the Marie Curie Dunfermline group," he added. "We will be giving them a big donation at the end."
