A STAGGERING 20 West Fife neighbourhoods had a COVID-19 positive rate of more than 400-plus cases per 100,000, in the latest seven-day period. 

The most recent figures from Public Health Scotland revealed the hotspots for coronavirus in Fife between November 28 and December 4.

During this time, there were 1,580 – 160 more than the previous week – which resulted in a positive rate of 422.3 cases per 100,000 population.

With 44 cases, the villages of Saline and Gowkhall had the highest number of cases not only in West Fife but out of the whole of the Kingdom too, which placed it in the 400-plus cases per 100,000 population category. 

The neighbourhood's seven-day postitive rate was 1,267.6 per 100,000 population. The highest rate after that was Dunfermline Garvock Hill with 835.2 per 100,000 population.

In the 200-399 cases per 100,000 population rating were Dunfermline Central (12), Dunfermline Baldbridgeburn (12), Rosyth Central (11), Cairneyhill and Crombie (9), Dunfermline Brucefield (10), Dunfermline Abbeyview South (8), Dunfermline Headwell (13), Dunfermline Abberview North (10), Inverkeithing East (7), and Dalgety Bay Central (9).

There were three neighbourhoods with a rating of 100-199 cases per 100,000 population. These were Dunfermline Pitcorthie West (5), North Queensferry and Inverkeithing West (6), and Rosyth East (5).
