A CARE WORKER accused of mistreating an elderly woman at a Dalgety Bay home has gone on trial.

The alleged victim suffered from dementia and is now deceased. She was a resident at the Henderson House care home.

Pauline Wilson, 56, of Wayfarers Drive, Dalgety Bay, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court facing two charges.

It is alleged that on two occasions between January 1 and December 31, 2019, at Henderson House, Link Road, Dalgety Bay, she ill-treated or wilfully neglected the resident by spraying water in her face intentionally, causing unnecessary discomfort.

It is further alleged that between the same dates on various occasions, she shouted, swore and made derogatory and offensive comments.

Meredith Cottingham, 27, who worked at the home through an agency, said she saw Wilson deliberately spraying the water directly into the woman’s face as she was being showered.

She claimed she had reported the matter to the manager but nothing was done.

The trial was adjourned until January 12.
