A DUNFERMLINE tea business has surprised an army officer with an award-winning cuppa.

The Wee Tea Company, who have a shop in the Kingsgate shopping centre, gifted a selection of their teas to Lieutenant Colonel Sarah Johnson, the new Commanding Officer of the Dunfermline-based 154 (Scottish) Regiment RLC.

The gift was presented by Wee Tea’s Martin Rae and Derek Walker at the154 Regiment’s HQ.

The firm signed the Armed Forces Covenant recently, which is described as a "promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly".

Company director Derek Walker said: “We are delighted to have any association with the armed forces, especially with signing the covenant.

“We want to show our support for all services at this time, including the NHS.

“We recently signed up to the Blue Light card scheme to further show our support.”

Martin and Derek are keen to honour their promise and were thrilled that they were able to make the surprise visit.

Lt Col Johnson chose the Rhubarb Rooibos tea which won at the recent Scottish Retail Food and Drink Awards 2021 in the Tea and Tisanes (herbal teas) category.

She said the tea was “delicious” and that she was very much looking forward to sampling the other teas on offer.
