A FIRE alarm thought to have been triggered by ongoing works caused disruption at the Carnegie Leisure Centre this morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 10am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.47am on Wednesday, January 12 by an automatic fire alarm system to a building at Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the location.

“Firefighters checked the building and established there was no sign of fire.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was safe.”

A spokesperson for the Fife and Leisure Trust, who operate the centre, told the Press that dust from work taking place in the centre is believed to have set off the smoke alarm.
