ALL but five West Fife neighbourhoods were in the highest rating category for COVID-19 cases this week.

However the latest statistics showed a sharp drop in case numbers across Fife.

The figures from Public Health Scotland revealed the coronavirus hotspots in the Kingdom between January 9 and 15.

During this time, there were 2,519 cases – 3,692 less than the previous week's total of 6,211 – which resulted in a positive rate of 673.3 cases per 100,000 population.

The West Fife location with the highest number of cases was Dunfermline Duloch North and Lynebank with a total of 46 cases.

This placed it in the 400-plus cases per 100,000 population category.

Neighbourhoods with the same rating were Kelty West (24 cases), Hill of Beath and Kingseat (30), Dunfermline Touch and Woodmill (24), Rosyth North (24), Dunfermline Central (24), Cairneyhill and Crombie (21), Crossgates and Halbeath (25), Rosyth Central (24), North Queensferry and Inverkeithing West (21), Kelty East (26), Rosyth East (20), Saline and Gowkhall (23) and Dunfermline Brucefield (20).

Also in this category were Aberdour and Auchtertool (21), Dunfermline Abbeyview North (22), Kincardine (17), Dunfermline Masterton (19), Dunfermline Headwell (19), Rosyth South (21), Dunfermline Garvock Hill (16), Valleyfield, Culross and Torryburn (19), Dunfermline Bellyeoman and Townhill (26), Oakley, Comrie and Blairhall (19), Dunfermline Pitcorthie West (11), Dalgety Bay West and Hillend (11), Inverkeithing East (12), Dunfermline Pitcorthie East (15), Dunfermline Baldridgeburn (15) and Dunfermline Milesmark and Wellwood (15).

In the 200-399 cases per 100,000 population were Dalgety Bay Central (15), Dunfermline Abbeyview South (9),Dunfermline Duloch South (10) and Crossford, Charlestown and Limekilns (10).

There was one West Fife location in the 100-199 cases per 100,000 population. This was Dalgety Bay East which had four cases.
