A NEW era for a title-winning Pars team begins this weekend when they make the step up to play 11-a-side football.

Dunfermline Athletic Girls' and Ladies' FC's under-15s will kick-off the 2022 season on Saturday with a home fixture against AM Soccer, fresh from having claimed league glory last year.

Competing in the SFA East Region Abbi Grant nine-a-side league, the talented team enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 80 goals while conceding just four, taking on teams from across Fife, Perthshire and Angus.

Their success even saw them get the chance to show off the trophy at East End, during the Athletic men's first team's 3-3 draw with Queen of the South, and coach Jen Moxey said: "The players worked hard and showed lots of commitment throughout the season.

"The coaches are very proud of this group of players."

Club chairman Alan Martin commented: "They did really well. The nucleus of the team have been together for a few years and they played some really nice football. It was quite close towards the end but they came through. Their hard work paid off.

"Things are looking really positive on the youth front. Our under-sevens, under-10s and under-12s are going from strength-to-strength; our under-14s have moved to 11-a-side; and we have our under-16s and under-18s, so there's a full pathway throughout the club."

Last week, Press Sport reported that, in conjunction with the Pars Foundation, a senior women's team for the club had been revived, having withdrawn from the SWF Championship North Division last October.
