AFTER being cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic, the Rosyth Gala will return this year to Rosyth Public Park.

Organised and run by Stephen Lynas, 48, who moved to Rosyth in 2005 and the Rosyth Community Council/EATS Rosyth Community Hub, the gala will take place on Saturday, May 28, if licensing for the event is approved.

Stephen has been involved in the gala since it started in 2016.

At that time, it was held to celebrate the centenary of Rosyth but proved a community favourite and went ahead every year since until the pandemic.

Stephen told the Press: "We’re looking forward to it, we’ve been biding our time to see what the COVID situation was. Lots of people have been asking if the gala was coming back this year and I think that with the relaxation of COVID restrictions,we felt that it was time to get back in the saddle and make it happen!

"It just brings people together, I mean if you go to any of our previous galas it's a real family affair, a really inclusive event. We’re absolutely delighted we’re getting it back this year."

After such a long postponement, the Rosyth Gala promised those on Facebook that the event would be back, bigger and better than ever and they plan to deliver on this.

Those working hard on the gala are bringing back favourite attractions with live music and displays but they've also teamed up with Future Youth, a Rosyth-based charity that aims to bring more activities and increase involvement for teenagers at the gala.

Stephen said: "We've brought them on board to see if we can look at doing some more events focused more on high school children, maybe around the skatepark. That will be quite exciting, it gives us another avenue to engage with the community.

"I think its important to say that it’s a gala and it's focused on the children but it’s a good opportunity for the community to get back together again. After the challenges of the past two years it’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get out to the public park and say hello to each other again."
