WEST FIFE'S movers and shakers can enjoy a community disco next month.

Dunfermline's Fire Station Creative will host the inclusive 'Shiski Diski', which is inspired by island traditions.

Workspace Dunfermline run the free event which welcomes everyone in the community.

It will take place in the arts hub on Friday, April 8, from 7pm.

Alan Grieve, who heads up the organisation, said the event was an "attempt to gather folk in all shapes and sizes".

It's the first time the disco will be held at the venue, which Alan called "exciting".

"The format is good and it is exciting to be in such a central venue," he said.

"Workspace has always worked on the periphery.

"You can come down, listen to music, and have drinks with strangers, which is great post-COVID."

The event was born after hairdresser and artist Alan heard from client Tracey Mutch about a community-run disco in Shiskane on the Isle of Arran.

"She remembered it happening in the '80s," he explained.

"I was keen to go and hear about it but nobody wanted to speak much about it so I decided to create my own version in Dunfermline!"

Workspace have been running the event for seven years but this will be their largest venue yet. They have also exhibited previously across Scotland in galleries, shopping centres, schools, forests, mountain tops and pubs.
