A DUNFERMLINE beauty business is looking forward to an “exciting” expansion.

Find Wax Bar and Beauty, based currently in the Kirkgate, is set to move to the Linen Quarter, the new development of apartments and retail on Pilmuir Street.

Their new home will allow for the growth of their teaching business, Find Beauty Education.

Lesley Fyffe, who runs both enterprises, has now also been granted the ability to provide the SVQ 2 Beauty Therapy course.

She explained: “Both businesses will be moved up to the Linen Quarter so they will be under the same roof and learners can work alongside my senior team and get hands-on experience.

“I’ve got my own team who do treatments but learners can shadow them. I am hoping we will be able to expand the team in the bigger premises but at the moment there are four staff members.

“It is really, really exciting, the qualification is quite a big thing.”

School-leavers will be able to take part on the course, which lasts 20 weeks, instead of attending college.

The course is accredited by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) awarding body, with pupils leaving ready to start a career in beauty therapy.

“They will be able to sit their exams with me, we will have a classroom and myself and Sarah Thomson will be leading the course,” Lesley said.

“It will be classroom and practical work – they won’t have to go to college, we are the college.

“It is a big thing for us and the industry.”

The SVQ 2 is also provided by Fife College Lesley says her venture will allow for more practical experience.

She hopes to launch the first 20-week run on June 15, in line with when pupils will be leaving school.

“We are looking to move into the salon at the end of April,” she said.

“We are hoping to run it every 20 weeks with more leavers starting in December.

“We will also keep doing the one- and two-day courses in things like dermaplaning, waxing and brows.”
