A 48-year-old man who alarmed residents when they saw him in the street with a sword has been sentenced.
Jason King later claimed he was trying to sell the weapon before ending his life with a drugs overdose.
King, 48, now of Craigleith Avenue, Inverkeithing, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that on September 9, 2020 at Melville Street, Lochgelly, he was unlawfully in possession of a sword.
The court was told that at around 4pm King was seen walking about the street and going to someone’s door, while carrying the weapon.
Police were called and found King with the sword, telling him to drop it.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett previously told the court that King had decided at that time he was going to commit suicide.
His plan was to sell the sword to get money to buy drugs and take an overdose. He took the item to a friend’s house to sell it but he was not at home.
Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a structured a deferred sentence and King will return to court on June 22.
