A KIND-HEARTED boy from Dunfermline has started running to fundraise for the war victims in Ukraine.

Eight-year-old Archie Scott, who lives in Pitreavie, has set himself a target to run 100km in 40 days to raise money for Save The Children.

He set an initial target of £100 but that's been smashed with more than £1,100 donated so far.

Mum and dad, Jenna, 34 and Ewan, 39, are rightly very proud of their son.

Jenna told the Press: “Archie is quite a thoughtful wee boy, even though he is only eight. He’s very energetic! He just wanted to do some fundraising.

"They were speaking about the war in school, and he had watched Newsround so that kind of raised his awareness.

“He gets quite upset by these kinds of things, so he wanted to do fundraising to try and help.”

Archie's family have recently had to isolate due to COVID but this hasn’t stopped the youngster and his efforts to help the children in Ukraine.

Jenna continued: “He has been so determined, as well with having COVID, he’s kept going.

"I wasn’t sure if he definitely would have the momentum to keep going with having to run in the garden.

“He does get so excited every time someone sponsors him, it has definitely spurred him on.

"When he hit the £1,000 mark he was so delighted with himself.”

Archie is posting regular updates on his Just Giving page – he recently clocked 48 minutes and 47 seconds for a 5k run, although mum's not sure if she can keep up!

Jenna laughed: “He says 'Do you want to come with me mum?' but there’s no way, I couldn’t keep up with him.

"He’s doing a fair amount of distance in a pretty quick time so there’s no way I could go with him!”
