ROSYTH welcomed cruise visitors into port on Wednesday for the first time since 2019.

The MV Hamburg sailed into West Fife to make its last stop before returning to Hamburg.

Volunteers from CruiseForth, who celebrate their 10th birthday this year, were on hand to welcome passengers and direct them to the courtesy bus to Dunfermline which was laid on thanks to support from Fife Council.

More than 100 calls are expected on the Forth in 2022 – three visits have already taken place at Newhaven – with 24 ships stopping off at Rosyth.

The Fred Olsen Balmoral and Ponant Cruise Line are using the port as an embarkation point for new cruises, bringing additional opportunities for West Fife hotels and taxi operators.

Peter Wilson, project manager for the CruiseForth Project, said: "We are really pleased to see the return of our cruise visitors, and hope that the popularity of Dunfermline and West Fife as a place to explore will quickly be refreshed in the minds of cruise lines and the excursion organisers."

During the pandemic, the Port of Rosyth was used as a safe berth for four Fred Olsen luxury liners which remained in West Fife until restrictions were lifted.
