A DUNFERMLINE baker has taken the cake in the baking industry awards.

Stephens Bakery won in the Scottish Retail Craft Baker of the Year and also took home individual product awards for their morning rolls, chocolate orange cupcake and their broccoli, cauliflower and chilli cheese pie.

Talia Sarafilovic, director of Stephens Bakery, said: "We came back from a weekend at the Scottish Bakers Conference with some fantastic success.

"We were shortlisted as finalists with two other bakeries; Baynes and Asher’s (based in Inverness).

"After a detailed written submission, the shortlisted bakeries are then interviewed by a panel of independent expert judges. A camera crew then came to the bakery for further interviews then headed to our drive-thru to get some fantastic footage that was shown on the awards night."

The four-generation, family-run business has been running for more than 140 years and their employees still use traditional methods when baking their award-winning goods.

Talia said: "This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team, and we are so proud of every single person. Everyone who is part of the Stephens family is hugely deserving of this award for all their hard work and passion. Well done to our outstanding team!"

Stephens Bakery has more than 200 locations and opened the first drive-thru bakers in Scotland in Dunfermline in 2018.
