A TERRIFIED family were woken in the early hours of Saturday morning when two men wearing balaclavas broke into their home in Crossgates.

The "absolutely horrific" incident at Ramsey Crescent happened just after 3.30am and saw the intruders threaten the residents and rifle through their belongings.

They stole car keys and house keys and not long after it happened the homeowner posted a warning on Facebook: "We have just been woken up to two men in our home dressed with balaclavas in the Miller estate!

"This has been absolutely horrific and we are pretty shaken up.

"Personally, I just stood at the landing screaming as my husband kept warning them to leave the house.

"One kept threatening to run at us and the other kept looking and going through our things in the kitchen/living area."

She continued: "I called the police and they both ran out the house.

"Police presence is in the area and wanted to warn everyone to make sure everything is locked up safely and securely.

"Reckon they were looking for our car keys.

"They have taken my car keys with my house key on it and anyone with ring door bells, please, if you have anything, let us know so we can inform the police to help find them.

"Just wanted to warn everyone now while it’s just happened."
