A 28-year-old man has given unpaid work after attempting to headbutt a police officer in Dunfermline.

Steven Hutton later said he drank two bottles of whisky before committing the offences.

Hutton, of Forth Gardens, Oakley, admitted that on November 6, 2020 at Adamson Crescent, Dunfermline, he shouted and swore at police officers.

He also admitted that at Dunfermline police station he assaulted an officer by attempting to headbutt him.

Defence solicitor Alan Davie said: “He’d consumed a frankly ridiculous amount of alcohol.”

Sheriff William Gilchrist, reading the social work report, said: “Two bottles of whisky. I’d have thought two bottles of whisky would kill you.”

“His behaviour was appalling and he knows that,” added the solicitor.

Sheriff Gilchrist imposed a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 12 months of supervision
