TWO men have been fined following an incident in Dunfermline.

Residents contacted the police after two groups began shouting and swearing at each other in the afternoon.

Joshua Drysdale, 22, of Calais View and Liam Robertson, 21, of Pentland Terrace, both Dunfermline, were involved in the disturbance which took place two years ago when Scotland was still in lockdown.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, they admitted that on May 21, 2020 at Whitelaw Crescent, they shouted and swore.

Depute fiscal Zahra Bhatti said the incident took place at 4.30pm.

Alexander Flett, solicitor for Drysdale, said: “He had no intention to go out and cause a nuisance that day but they were making too much noise and the police were contacted.”

Stephen Morrison, solicitor for Robertson, said: “He had been with friends and there was also another group in the area at the time.

“There was some shouting and swearing from the group he was in.”

Sheriff Grant McCulloch told the pair: “Shouting and swearing in the afternoon will get people looking out to see what’s happening and calling the police. You should know better.”

He fined Drysdale and Robertson £220 each.
