FIFE has recorded five COVID-19 related deaths in the last week.

Across the country, there have now been 14,699 deaths where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate, according to latest statistics.

New data from National Records of Scotland (NRS) found that between May 9 and 15, a total of 60 deaths involved COVID.

This number was 17 less than in the previous week.

Out of 32 council areas, 23 saw at least one death, Fife recorded five, the same as Renfrewshire, and Aberdeenshire, Glasgow City, North Lanarkshire, and South Lanarkshire all recorded four.

Of these, 44 were in hospitals, nine in care homes, and seven in non-institutional settings.

Since March 2020, 93 per cent of all deaths had at least one pre-existing medical condition, with dementia or Alzheimers suffers accounting for just under one quarter.

In Scotland, there have been nine total deaths resulting from adverse affects of the COVID-19 vaccine, this number has not risen since last months figures.

By April 30, 4.4 million people across the country had been given at least one vaccine dose.
