A 26-YEAR-OLD man attacked another male in the street during a night out in Dunfermline.
Lewis Adie walked up to the victim and punched him for no apparent reason.
Adie, of Dalbeath Gardens, Hill of Beath, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on August 14 last year at Maygate, Dunfermline, he assaulted a man by punching him on the head to his injury.
The court was told the victim and two friends were walking together in the centre of Dunfermline.
They saw Adie coming towards them and he walked up to the male, punching him in the face, causing his nose to bleed.
Adie’s friend, who was with him, apologised saying, “I’m sorry about him” and taking hold of him.
The victim was left with bruising under both eyes.
Adie, who was representing himself, said: “I want to apologise for my behaviour. I know it’s not acceptable.
"I’m embarrassed about it.”
Asked by Sheriff David Hall whether he knew the victim, Adie replied: “Just as being from the local area.”
Sheriff Hall fined Adie £320 and ordered him to pay compensation of £300.
