THERE will be overnight road closures for the next two weeks on the A977 and A985 trunk roads in West Fife.

The programme of works is to be completed in eight phases and carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland.

The current road markings will be replaced with 'Weatherline' markings, which are more retro-reflective, skid resistant and durable, and offer significant carbon savings compared to standard thermoplastic markings.

Defective or missing road studs will also be replaced.

Tommy Deans, from BEAR Scotland, said: “It is essential for safety that we close the A977 and A985 while these improvements are carried out, however we’ve planned the works to reduce delays as much as possible.

“We’ve split the works into eight phases to reduce the length of each closure and increase work efficiency.

“If you are planning to use the A977 or A985 at night over the next two weeks, our advice is to check what restrictions will be in place and allow extra time for your journey if necessary.

“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
