THE PEACOCK who was badly hurt during a break-in at the Pittencrieff Park aviary "fair enjoyed" a tour of Dunfermline while travelling to the vet on Tuesday.

The day out provided a rare opportunity for Louis to see the sights of the city, as he had a "nosy" around the streets while being chauffeured to his appointment.

Volunteers updated that the bird, who was left with "numerous injuries" while one of the other animals, Malcolm, was killed in the attack, was confirmed to have a fractured leg, as well as a wound to his neck.

Carlyn Cane, who has been providing care since the incident, wrote on the Peacocks in Pittencreiff Park Facebook: "Hi everyone, I just wanted to give a little update on Louis. We had him at the vet this morning and an X-ray has confirmed that as well as the other injuries he has a fracture to his leg.

"He has been given another ten days of antibiotics and is continuing to have his painkillers and his leg wounds dressed twice a day."

The trip provided an adorable video, where viewers can watch as Louis is engrossed by his surroundings.

"He fair enjoyed his trip in the car this morning and was having a good nosy out the window!" The post continued.

"The other birds are doing well and we are eternally grateful for the donations, flowers, cards and gifts that we have received."

More than 15,000 has been raised by the community in support of the iconic Dunfermline residents.
