A DULOCH teen has flown the flag for Scotland after winning a UK-wide dance event.

Rhianne McAllister, 14, was crowned Miss Teen Take The Stage at the competition in Welwyn Garden City, England, last Saturday.

As the only Scottish competitor, Rhianne did Scotland, Dunfermline and her family proud!

Proud grandad Hugh Ballantyne told the Press: "We are over the moon, we couldn't get over it! We, her grandparents, weren't down with her but her mum and dad were there and we were just on tenterhooks just waiting on the news.

"Every now and again we would get a text message or, even better, a bit of video!"

Rhianne won a total of five regional first positions at the Take The Stage Edinburgh heat, held at the Alhambra in Dunfermline, with each win qualifying her for the finals where she performed her contemporary, jazz and lyrical routines. She won three first places with her lyrical performance scoring highest overall in all of the solo age categories.

Her mum, Samantha, was also chuffed and said: "We definitely are proud, it is amazing to see her doing something that she loves."

Spending all her free time on dancing, it's Rhianne's passion and she helps out with the younger performers' dance classes, has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent recently and has now started rehearsals for the Beyond Broadway Theatre Group's performance of Grease, in which she will be taking on the role of Cha Cha DiGregorio at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre in July.

Samantha joked: "We hardly see her to be honest!"
