A 37-YEAR-OLD who was drunk in charge of a car in Dunfermline has avoided a ban.
James Keith, of Falkirk Road, Bonnybridge, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on January 9, in Arthur Street, he was in charge of a car when he was over the alcohol limit.
Depute fiscal Jill Currie said police had received an anonymous tip-off and had gone to Arthur Street, where they found Keith in the back seat of the car with another person.
When officers spoke to him, they could smell alcohol and he was slurring his words. He was in possession of the car keys which he handed over to the police.
The court was told that at the time, Keith had been working as a nightclub doorman and had been invited back to a friend’s house for a drink.
However, the friend then changed their mind and Keith was given a duvet to sleep in his car.
Sheriff Charles Macnair fined Keith £450 and endorsed his licence with 10 penalty points.
