THERE are high hopes that three luxury 'glamping' pods in an "idyllic location" near Saline will bring a tourism boost to the area.

Kay Nicol got the go-ahead in July last year to add holiday accommodation at Meadow View, Hill End, which is north-east of the village and close to Powmill.

And, last week, Fife Council issued a completion certificate for the work, with bookings now available for glamorous camping.

To accommodate the three pods, the work involved a change of use of garden ground and agricultural land.

When the plans were first submitted in December 2020, a supporting statement explained: "There is a growing demand for staycations in Scotland and we believe this will generate and promote tourism in this area.

"This will bring employment and profit to local facilities and shops and our client will also promote local produce from neighbouring farmers.

"The build won't have any impact on the land as it is on open grassland with no trees, there is already parking spaces to accommodate the pods, therefore we will not impact on the environment.

"The area is an idyllic location which will attract holidaymakers and clientele passionate to the countryside, such as artists, walkers, cyclists and photographers who will also enjoy the wildlife and experience its natural scenic beauty."
