A WEST FIFE nursing home has been celebrating a long-running sponsorship of a local community football club.

Bandrum Nursing Home first teamed up with Valleyfield FC around 30 years ago and is continuing its faithful support.

Youngsters from the club popped into meet residents last week and enjoyed a sports-themed quiz while getting the chance to show off their new kits.

The home's managing director, Rachel Payne, is proud to be able to keep helping the club.

"Back in the beginning, one of the nurses in the home came and said, 'My son's football team are looking for sponsorship'," she explained. "Bandrum has been a family-run home since it opened and my mum thought it was a good idea and wanted to support the local community.

"We have always tried to be part of the community so this was our way of supporting the kids.

"Over the years, the team has grown. As it grows, our sponsorship helps them grow and helps to support more people in the local community."

Residents and staff were delighted to welcome back the fledgling footballers into the home.

"They used to make regular appearances here but this is the first time since the pandemic and there were about 20 who came along," added Rachel. "It is nice for the younger guys to meet different people."
