THE Monarch Bar is set to host a Californian guitarist this month.

Straight from the Golden State, Walter Strauss will be performing at the James Street pub on Sunday, July 31, at 8pm in what will be his return to Dunfermline.

Walter said: "I enjoyed performing in the Tiffany Lounge in the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline and in Abbot House during previous tours of Scotland and am looking forward to crossing the Atlantic once again to perform in the ancient capital of Dunfermline-particularly now it is officially and deservedly a city!”

His solo performance will be one to remember as Walter renders music from traditional instruments like the kora, a traditional West African harp with 21 strings, to his guitar. He hopes to wow with what BBC's Bob Harris, OBE, described as “glorious master guitar-playing".

He has an impressive resume, having played with Grammy-nominated guitarist Alex de Grassi, Tony McManus and Bob Brozman and collaborated with fiddler Jonny Hardie of the Old Blind Dogs from Aberdeen.

Tickets for Walter Strauss can be purchased online at walterstrauss.eventbrite.com or from the Monarch Bar directly. Tickets cost £12 per person.
