BUNGEE and trapeze classes have propelled a Dunfermline fitness studio into winning a prestigious trophy.

Studio-X, on Canmore Street, took home the Innovation title at the Scottish Health & Fitness Awards 2022 for their work to introduce West Fifers to the latest health crazes.

Owner Lisa Gibson, 39, told the Press: "We try to think outside the box, we got going really well and then were shut or restricted for a year – we are just getting back on our feet.

"We were over the moon to win and were so surprised as we were up against the whole of Scotland, including some really big and well-established gyms.

"To be recognised and win amongst these nominees really is something big!"

After opening three years ago, Lisa, alongside fellow coaches Bethany Ferguson and Jen Turner, has been working hard to bring options "which don't even feel like exercise" to the city.

This includes 'Bungeefit', the idea for which was sparked by a TikTok video which saw Studio-X become the first gym in Scotland to offer the classes.

"You are connected to a bungee cord and do high-impact exercises such as press-ups, burpees or squats," Lisa explained.

"You fly around the room, you are defying gravity.

"It is very popular, we are quite innovative, we also offer birthday parties which we can tailor to the individual."

Before opening, Lisa worked as a PE teacher for 16 years, as well as running her own dance school "on the sidelines".

"I started doing zumba and other crazes," she added.

"I like to do things which are unique and different, I try to do things nobody has done before."
