EFFORTS to relieve parking concerns and improve road conditions on a Dalgety Bay street are under way.

Improvements to the drop-off zone for primary school pupils near Jubliee Park have been finished, with resurfacing works on Moray Way South now underway.

David Barratt, councillor for Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay, told the Press: "The work is part of the area roads programme.

"Residents are getting their driveways blocked across the road from the playpark, we will be monitoring it to see if the council approach sorts it, both works will be going on at the same time."

Cllr Barratt also hopes that the project will alleviate persistent flooding problems on the street.

It will see the installation of a path connected to the existing walkway through the park in a move to relieve traffic issues along Inchview Gardens.

Resurfacing will last until mid August, extending from the street's roundabout to Pinnel Place.

The councillor had met residents and took a proposal to the Fife Council transport team to create marked parking, though he says his suggestion was declined, noting that it may set a precedent for other areas and stretch their already-tight maintenance budget.

The authority has instead agreed to expand the footpath at the existing drop-off zone to encourage use of the area.

Lead consultant Lesley Craig explained that the council had been working on two road projects at Dalgety Bay Moray Way South.

She said: "An extended drop-off footpath for primary school pupils is now finished and it's hoped that this will help with parking issues in the area.

"We're also re-surfacing the road at Moray Way Road South which will improve the area for road users."
