A YOUNG Dunfermline boy is taking to the Highlands for a cycling charity challenge.

Carnegie Primary youngster Noah Hart is gearing up for a gruelling 110km journey from Inverness to Fort William next month.

The eight year-old’s cycle follows a similar pedal two years ago when he travelled from Glasgow to Edinburgh to raise over £2,000 for children’s charity CHAS.

In September, he will travel along the Great Glen Way with dad Gary over two days. The first day, from Inverness to Fort Augustus, will see him complete 60 km. A further 50km will be completed the following day when he will reach Fort William.

Proud dad Gary said training is now underway.

“He really enjoyed the last one and we raised so much money so wanted to do something a bit harder because he is a bit older now,” he explained.

“We are from Fort William originally so we decided to do it up there. Noah is a bit more apprehensive this time than the last one as there are quite a lot of hills on the first day.

“There are three big climbs, up to 400 metres, but what I am saying to him is if you have got to go up it, then you get to go down it so we can have some fun.

“We were so surprised with him at the last one. He was like an energiser bunny! He is quite a fit lad and does his football and stuff so isn’t really worried.”

Noah has chosen to help CHAS because his mum Laura works as a senior staff nurse at their Rachel House facility in Kinross.

“He understands the service they provide for families and that is is an important charity to support,” added Gary.
