A DUNFERMLINE drug driver, caught driving when more than four times over the limit, has banned from the roads for three years.

Kenneth Coyle, 29, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He previously admitted that on October 3 last year at Beath Petrol Station, High Street, Cowdenbeath, he drove a car having taken excess drugs.

His reading for cannabis was more than four times over the legal limit.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said a witness saw Coyle getting out of his car and was unsteady on his feet. There was a strong smell of cannabis coming from his car and police were contacted.

When officers tracked down the car, they could see it being driven erratically.

Defence solicitor Calum Harris said his client “was a fairly heavy user of cannabis at the time”.

Sheriff Robert More banned Coyle from driving for three years.

This was the minimum period as Coyle had a previous conviction for drink-driving from 2016.

A fine of £110 was also imposed.
